Description
|
|
One of the most beautiful villas in Rome, whose project was ordered by Scipione (nephew of Paolo V Borghese) at the beginning of the XVII century. Inside the park, among fountains, architectures, statues, monuments, breathless views, you could spend a whole day without realizing it. A walk among the most beautiful in the world.
On the top of the villa Casino Borghese stands, built by the Dutch architect Vasanzio and restored by Marcantonio Borghese; in this elegant building Borghese Museum and Borghese Gallery are located. The collections housed here regard artistic works (sculptures and paintings). Inside you can see the excellent masterpieces by Canova and by Bernini: Paolina Borghese wonderful work by Canova, David with the sling, Apollo and Daphne triumph of Berninian art.
Among the works shown in Borghese Gallery you can find masterpieces by Titian, Raphael and Caravaggio.
If you are not interested in artistic splendors, the villa offers anyway some fun and amusements in the green of nature.
It can be considered the most important green lung of the city. Children will absolutely have to go to "bioparco" (the former zoo), housed inside the big villa. |
