Description
Piazza della Repubblica, better known as Piazza Esedra, occupies a part of the ancient Diocletian's Thermae.
At the center of the square you can admire the magnificent Naiads Fountain, made by Mario Rutelli (1900).
The area is dominated by the set of Diocletian's Thermae, that in ancient times extended for more than thirteen hectares. In spaces obtained from Thermae some monuments have been built: Church of St. Mary of Angels and Martyrs, made by Michelangelo, and the Roman National Museum, that owns some valued works. |
