PIRAMIDE DI CAIO CESTIO
Description
In this pyramid Caio Cestio was buried in 12 b. C.; this monument was built in only 330 days, as you can see from the inscription located on the pyramid itself. It's the only pyramid in Rome, resounding the Egyptian pyramides. The good condition is due to the fact of it being absorbed in Aurelian walls and restored in different times during its millenary history.
From the adjacent San Paul's Door, Via Ostiense starts; it arrives after some kilometers to Ostia.
The Ostia Excavation is interesting for the tourist; there are some ancient Roman houses in excellent conditions. |
